Time to go home & see our Mac!
Well, all good things must end. Our month long adventure in France, Spain, Portugal, & then France again has come to an end. We are currently in the airport in Marseille awaiting our flight to Montreal. In a few short (or long hours) we will be seeing our Mac. It has been an out of this world trip, despite a few "mishaps" at the beginning. But, we made it to Portugal (with 25 Euros in our pocket & 1/4 tank of gas), and best of all, we got married. Our wedding was one not to be forgotten, surrounded by our fabulous family & friends in paradise. We even, at the last minute, acquired a flower girl & "flower" boy...Thanks little Jessi & Brandon. Afterwards, we flew to beautiful Corsica, where we have spent the last memorable week. I have to give all the credit of the honeymoon to Ty. He did tons of research and planned the most amazing, memorable honeymoon a girl could ask for. We spent the last day/night of our honeymoon 1st watching the presidential debates on cnn.com, then scuba diving in the Mediteranean & eating wonderful French food & drinking amazing French wine. What a better way to round off our week. It brought me to tears this morning as we flew over Corsica & said goodbye. It was such an experience, the food, the drink, the culture, & the people. I dont think Ty or I are ready for real-life Boston, although we are both pretty anxious to see Mac. We have been placing bets on if he has put any weight on...I bet no, Ty bets yes. We are in for some excitement when we get home also, as Ty starts his first rotation as Mass General on Tues, & I have an interview for graduate school at Boston College's CRNA program on Friday. (Wish us both luck...) Can't wait to talk to you all and share more pictures when we get home!!!

More Calvi...
Near the old town & Marina
Marina
While eating lunch, we met a new friend. She was eating peanuts first out of Ty's hand, then she was just helping herself at the dish!
Posing for a picture..
A picnic in the room
Just wanted to post a few more pictures from beautiful Calvi. I am currently trying to convince Ty that living here wouldnt be too bad, despite the fact that there isnt a hospital! Who needs jobs, right?!
Calvi continuted...
Me, taking in the beautiful view!
Ty on our picnic
Ty trying to get the "present" in the water! (He was convinced that some dude on a yacht dropped a present into the water...he was ready to swim out to get it when he realized it was a buoy for some sort of a trap! :-)
Getting ready for our afternoon by the pool...
We have been having such a great time in Calvi. The weather has been a bit on the cool side, so we havent had much beach time, but it has been extrememly relaxing nonetheless. Yesterday, we slept in...again...and woke up just in time to head out for a picnic. We found the most amazing spot for a picnic. We bought a couple sandwiches from a street vendor, put some wine in a 2 L coke bottle and headed out. It was beautiful. The point we found was a huge bunch of rocks jetting out into the sea, and we were able to look back on the town, and just out to the ocean. It was beautiful. After filling our bellies, we decided that a relaxing afternoon by the pool was in order. We were staying at the most amazing hotel, with the most amazing infinity pool. Then, of course, it was time to eat again. Our hotel was home to a 2 star Michelin resturant. Ty was in heaven. We decided to splurge and get the NINE course, yes NINE course meal. It was SUPERB! But, when they said nine courses, I think they meant more like 12 or 15. (The chef must have lost count...ha ha!) Either way, it was a great meal. And you would all be proud of us...we made ONE bottle of wine last all nine (or 15) courses...we wanted to remember the meal. It was a great day! We checked out of our hotel this morning, and moved on to our current place. We are staying in the middle of Calvi at a CUTE hotel. Much more quaint than our last one, but in a great spot. We are pretty excited to be down here on a Friday and Saturday night...I think things could get a little rowdy, and we are always up for rowdy! Well, Ty is ready to get out and explore, so I better get going!!!

Looking out over the mountains on our drive to Calvi! It was the most scenic drive we have ever done together!
We saw some ruins from the car, stopped, and hiked up to check them out!
One of the AMAZING beach near Calvi!
View from our own private patio...big patio! Looking out over the city of Calvi! BEAUTIFUL! We have an "apartment" at the hotel. I am never leaving...it is bigger and WAY nicer than our place in Boston!!!

Calvi, Corsica
Today, we left Ajaccio and drove to Calvi. I was a little sad to leave but after about 15 minutes into the trip, I realized we still hadnt seen the most amazing parts of Corsica. We drove through the mountains, stopped in a small village for lunch, and reached the amazing waters of Calvi this afternoon! Sorry for another short post, but we are off to dinner and to explore our amazing hotel. I have to give tons and tons of credit to Ty for planning an amazing, amazing honeymoon. I had NO idea that things would be this amazing...Thanks, Ty!!!! Time of my life!!!! (sorry, cant get any photos to upload now...hopefully soon!!)

Trash the Dress Pictures

Bonjour! The one and only, fabulous, amazing Amy Carroll has posted a couple trash the dress pictures on her blog. She and Jen surprised Ty & I with pictures at our dinner plates on teh night of the wedding. We were BLOWN away, and by the way, I just have to add, these girls had exactly NO time to edit or buff up the pictures. These are raw, unbelievable pictures. They took their memory cards to a 30 minute phot place, and presented us with the most amazing pics we have seen. (Girls, we are on our honeymoon, and I bet we have gotten the pictures our 10 times so far...it is our FIRST day!!!!) Truly, Ty and I have not stop talking about how these girls are going to be inviting us to their hollywood homes in the near future, because truly they are destined for greatness....they were both truly amazing. I cannot believe we were lucky enough to have them photgraph our day! AND besides being amazing photographers....they are two of the best girls we have ever met!!!! We miss them already!!!!!!
Check out Amy's blog.
Soon to come...Jen's pictures.
But, we have to give her some time...she did have a wedding today! Three weddings in a week, combined with a trip to Europe...Ok, Jen...you deserve a few weeks to get some pictures up!!!! :-) Love ya!!!
We're MARRIED!!!
Well, the time has come, I am finally Mrs. Hartman! I cant even begin to tell you what an amazing, amazing day it was. It was supposed to rain, I work up and it was a little overcast, but the rain held out, the sun came out, and the ceremony on the beach was SPECTACULAR! Word cannot describe the feelings I felt as my dad walked me down the aisle to my new husband. After the ceremony, we had cocktails on the beach, followed by a reception at Ty's parents house. The house looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Seriously, it was a movies star wedding/reception and the best day of our lives. We ate cocktails and canapes at the house followed by an amazing meal that lasted until 1 AM. We finally shut the party dow around 5! Surrounded by our best friends and loving family, we have never felt so special and loved. Because our wedding planners were total flakes, all of our friends and families and even photographers put together an amazing, amazing time. I will never be able to thank you all enough....
We flew in photographers from Michigan who spent the week with us...Jen & Amy, I know I said it a MILLION times, but wow....thank you!! Over the next couple weeks or so, they may post some pictures to their blogs...check them out....

Tarifa
Today we went to one of the most beautiful places that we have visited so far, Tarifa. It is on the coast, but the mountains rise up from behind it. And the best part...you can see Morocco from the shore. It is beautiful. The water is blue green and just amazing. And woulnd you know, we forgot the camera! Total bummer, but we are heading back there tomorrow, so hopefully will have some pictures to post. We tried to wind surf today, but unfortunately conditions werent perfect for beginners, so hopefully tomorrow will work out. We did however have a LONG walk along one of the most beautiful beaches, and saw lots and lots of topless women and completely naked men! We just got back to the hotel in time for a nap and to get some dinner later.
Those of you who know about my "bug bite" issues from Portugal will be pleased to know it is NOT just Portugal. I, again, have had the unfortunate experience of getting bit by what we now think is ants. I think Tyler discounted me when I told him about the previous ones, but now that he has gotten a chance to see the craziness of these bites, I think he is a little blown away also. At least this time I only have two of them. That being said, one of them has developed the biggest blister that either Ty or I have ever seen...it is gross. So much for feeling like a beautiful bride...(at least it is on my leg and not my face this time). Anyway, it is time for my siesta. (see, I am already adopting Spanish culture!) Nighty night!!!

a day of driving...
It was a long drive from Alicante today, though shorter than expected. We were unable to leave the city, though, until after 5pm, which kind of put a damper on the beginning of the day. We were able to spend a little time in the sun. You would never guess that we have spent the last 5 days in such sunny places. We are pale as pale can be. Hopefully we will get some sun in the next few days.
We are currently in Algecira, Spain, which is between Gibraltar and Cadiz. Our drive here, though a long one, was a beautiful one. It took us from the sea up to the mountains and back to the sea. Sasha & Brooke, we drove into Malaga at sunset tonight, coming down the mountains and seeing the Mediterean on the horizon...BEAUTIFUL! You guys are so lucky to be flying in here. You are going to love it...at least from what we saw! I tried to get some pictures of the drive, but unfortunately going 170 km/hr on the autoroute is not ideal for good quality photographs!!
We decided to spend two nights here since the house in Portugal is only about 4 hours from here. Tomorrow we are hoping to learn how to windsurf! Tarifa (15km from here) is the windsurfing capital of Europe! So, hopefully the next time we see all of you, we will not only have published a book about our crazy adventures, but also have turned pro as windsurfers! :-) Hopefully I can update you all tomorrow on the status of that endeavor!
Our Trip---BESTSELLER
Well, adventure doesnt even begin. This is just a little teaser, we are keeping our story a secret until our best selling non fiction "novel" is published!! ha ha! Kidding, the story will come out...but you will just have to wait until we know how it ends....Just know, we are safe, still in love, and on to our next adventure...maybe. We love you al!!!
Barcelona
Hola from Spain. Barcelona was great! We spent the night in a great hotel, had some late night tapas, got up early (early for Jess) and explored the city. What a surprisingly amazing city! It was GREAT, GREAT! We saw everything we wanted to see. The weather was a little overcast, but really great for walking around, not too hot. We stopped at a couple HUGE markets, which of course made Tyler's trip, and shopped at an antique flee market, where my mom would have been in heaven. After a big morning of walking, we had a fabulous Spanish lunch in a little square near La Rambla, which was fabulous for people watching. After lunch, we got in the car and drove around the rest of the city seeing Gaudi's monstracities! Very interesting and very cool! Late in the afternoon, it was off to our next adventure, Alicante. And...when I say adventure, Ty and I could have never dreamed up the adventure that would follow....

Its been a interesting few days!
Me, praying to the wine gods...I am truly in heaven!
Chateaune-du-pape!
Well, it has been an interesting few days. We arrived in France with no real issues. We stayed in Antibes the first night in the cutest bed and breakfast. They cooked a home cooked meal for all of the people staying in the b & b. The family was so nice and we had a very relaxing first night. The second day in Antibes, we decided to start off with a little hike around cape antibes. It was beautiful! The French Riveria is amazing, but whoa...we dont have a yacht to park in any of the ports! And when I say yachts...I mean SUPER yachts!! Anyway, after our hike, we arrived back at our car. To our surprise, the passenger side window was broken in, and my purse, my money, my credits cards, my cell phone...GONE! I dont know how we got so lucky, but all of our luggage (all of it) was still in the car, along with our passports and computer! We were so lucky....although at the time, I didnt think so. Unfortunately, we did not purchase the insurance on our car---oops! So we spent our day in Antibes driving around to find a place to fix the window. Ty really brushed up on his french. Finally at 6pm, we just went to the rental car place and they replaced our car with no issues. At this point, we didnt have a place to stay so we stopped (no lie) at McDonalds to use their wi-fi to priceline a hotel. We got the best deal on an AMAZING spot in Mandeleui. I took tons of pictures...one that reminded us of our soon to be neighbors. Unfortunately, I dropped my camera the following day and it is done for. Luckily, we also brought Ty's camera, so we are in good shape. On Tuesday, we drove to the Cote du Rhone area! How beautiful and amazing. Totally different from the Riveria, but just as special. We spent the first day & night exploring Vasion de la Romaine. AMAZING time. We stayed in an old fort...a super cute romantic place. Our windows overlooked beautiful vineyards from 4 stories up. It was a great experience. Today, today was wine tasting day. We first stopped in the cute provencial towns of Segeret and Sable. Great towns to walk around. Then it was on to Chateaunef-du-pape. Some of you might know, but this was the first wine Ty and I drank together on our first date. So it was VERY special to us. We walked to the castle and had lunch at the top. Then we started tasting some wine with a very informative man, Jean-Bapstiste (no lie...that was his name). We started talking with him (for hours) and realized that his family has a home in La Clusaz, where Ty's family chalet is. What a small world. Needless to say, we bought our share of wine (having some shipped back home). Then it was on to Barcelone, where we are sitting now. We, again, got a great deal on a hotel room and are staying in a very modern place down by the water. I am looking forward to tomorrow to explore the area!!!! Sorry I havent been able to update, but I hope you are all doing well!!! Love to all of you!!!
